Mish Mash Monday: it feels like spring

In my garden, it feels like June.  Today’s high temperature was 78F.  All the doors are open to the warm breeze.  You would think it was spring, except that the trees have lost their leaves, and the spiders and other insects are slowing down like time worn clocks.  The sun goes down earlier, and that’s when you feel the slight chill of winter’s embrace.

The roses are beautiful, blooming in twos and threes, but the plants, except for the Knockouts, are unsightly and leggy with ink spotted leaves.

The spiders are still doing their thing though, just a bit more slowly.  The cooler nighttime temperatures make them slow enough for even me to photograph.  This one was leisurely doing her thing today.  At least, I think she is a “she.”

The lake is beautiful and calm, but storm clouds approach letting us know Mother Nature is still in control no matter what we may think. It isn’t spring, but no freeze is expected until after Thanksgiving.  In central Oklahoma, our average first freeze for the year occurs between November 1st and November 10th according to the Oklahoma Climatological Survey map.

That’s all my musings for this afternoon.  Many thanks to Garden Faerie who created Mish Mash Monday.

Lovely, your area looks similar to home…..the leaves are mostly gone. My fairy rose and knockouts are still going too, but not like yours. We have had a few big rains and really pushed fall along.

Dee, Don’t you love Mish Mash Monday! The Fairy is planted under Natchez in my garden. They do seem to go together. All the leaves have fallen off her, I hope she survives the 20+ inches of rain we had! Dee, it must be a joy to sit by the lake. gail

It was warm here, too. I guess it got to about 70? Normally it would be 50 for a high. I noticed my Vinca minor has started to bloom a bit. It is very odd fall weather!

With all those roses and that salvia still blooming it looks like spring in your garden Dee. It felt like that here too. I don’t think we got to 78 but it was very warm. It seems strange doesn’t it. I do appreciate all the warmth though. We will just have to enjoy it while we can. What kind of Crepe Myrtle is that?? I love the thick brown stem. Will it exfoliate when it matures??

Lovely photos. That first one has such a strong complementary color thing going on it seems to vibrate. The spider & web are so cool.

My The Fairy had a tough fall with too much rain. And for some reason it tends to throw out 8 foot canes (it did that before the rains). Any idea why? It’s just too big for its area now. Your post and photos are lovely. Won’t be long now for that first freeze!

Jean, I don’t know why your Fairy wants to be a climber unless it’s Cl. The Fairy. There is one you know. Perhaps the tags were mixed up at the nursery. Here’s hoping it recovers.~~DeeMy ComLuv Profile

The pineapple sage looks so good. I can’t remember which year and it had to be some time ago–but it won at the NC state level. So serene this time of year and you know I’m loving it.

Hurricane Ida has been with us for days kicking up her heals. So much rain and wind.

Beautiful quiet photos today and I needed that.
