Blessed Easter everyone

I hope everyone has a happy and blessed Easter. We’re going to brunch this morning with family, and it will be a quiet time unlike past Easters. I’ve enjoyed the quiet. We went to Easter Vigil last night, and it was beautiful as always. Lovely to see people so excited to come into the Church. I wanted to share some photos of our small church in Guthrie. It is a beautiful thing and reminds me of a wedding cake, all covered in white frosting with the stained glass windows as sugar flowers. Maybe not the best analogy, but it’s all I’ve got this morning.

St. Mary's steeple, Guthrie, Oklahoma

St. Mary’s steeple, Guthrie, Oklahoma

Our steeple, stretching upward into a cloudy sky, has terrible, internal damage from a tornado that ripped through Guthrie and Piedmont on May 24, 2011. On this map, you can see the path of the tornado. Guthrie is in Logan County. I took the photo, above, last year before scaffolding went up around the tower. Pretty soon, the entire steeple and tower will be disassembled brick-by-brick. It will be an interesting, but emotional process. Then, a new steeple will be rebuilt. I am reminded of St. Francis being asked by Christ to rebuild his church. We now have a Pope Francis, and it appears he is in the process of rebuilding the Church. However, as St. Francis discovered, rebuilding isn’t always what people expect. I am a convert. I came into the Church 22 years ago. I still hold that flame in my heart, where it burns bright this Easter.

Let’s pray in thanksgiving for the resurrection, but also, hold our priests and pastors in prayer too. They bear a heavy load especially during Holy Week, and most especially, in small churches with missions in other towns. Somehow, they do Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Vigil and two masses on Easter Sunday with grace as they celebrate with all of us. I am thankful for them too.

Jesus is Risen. Alleluia, Alleluia.

I so enjoyed seeing your lovely church! I have a thing for beautiful stained glass windows. I particularly enjoy seeing the setting sun through our church windows, as I’m standing during praise group practice, singing my heart out. I’m a convert too!

What a beautiful church. Stained glass windows with a message make my heart soar. I hope you and yours had a blessed day. Thanks for the positive thoughts.

Your church is lovely, Dee. The exterior reminds me of our church; ironically, the steeple of ours came down after a tornado many years ago, too. Blessings to you, too, this Easter.

Thank you Rose. Ah, tornadoes, they are such devastating beasties.

Thank you Charlie. There’s much more to it, but I liked these photos best on that particular day.

You are the voice of God to me in praying for our pastors, second to remind me. I’ve thought on this, remembering Paul’s instructions to pray for people in power. God bless your church. I teared up this morning, realizing how precious is being able to attend church and share good wishes and worship as we wish.

Isn’t that funny? God works in mysterious ways, my dear. It is indeed a blessing not to be told how to believe, but I’m afraid if we don’t continue in prayer, we may lose that ability too. Love and blessings. I hope you enjoyed Easter.

Happy Easter! Your church is beautiful. I love seeing stained glass windows in churches, as they tell the story of Christ. I hope the rebuilding process goes smoothly, and quickly.

Happy Easter, Dee. I came here from Gail’s link in FB. I enjoyed your post, and lovely photos of your church.

I am an adult convert, too. God led me to join a Missouri Synod Lutheran church 31 years ago. I look forward to being in Heaven with all who trust in Jesus for their salvation.

Happy Easter darling girl. I’ll have to show pics of the steeple as they take it down. It is in good hands. It will rise again too.

Happy Easter and may the spirit of the Holy Spirit be with you Dee!! I love Easter time and have fond memories growing up going to Easter Sunday mass. Your church is beautiful.

Hi Donna, and the same to you. I love Easter too. I hope yours was blessed and peaceful.

Thank you for sharing the photos of your lovely church. You are right about he extra prayers needed for our pastors at Easter. Thank you for the reminder.

    1. Dee Nash

Hi Leslie, I think about how much work they put into creating a beautiful spiritual space within to worship, and I am in awe. Also, pastors give so much and ask for nothing. We should pray for them and each other. God Bless You.

    Easter Blessings to you!

To you too dear Chris. I hope your Easter Sunday was full of the Lord’s blessings.
