Winter spreads snowy white arms
Encircling her lover
covered in pearls.
Her tight embrace cold and white,
Chilled.
Like champagne shared
On the eve of a New Year.

Annie, you get roses in December. Forget the cold . . . I’ll take that!!!
Mary Ann, you’re too kind.
Corey, I’m not much of a poet, but I did my best.
MMD, you crack me up!
Park Wife, Carolyn, Carol (May Dreams) and Mary, thank you all for visiting and saying such nice things. I appreciate it.

That was lovely, Dee – almost [but not quite!] makes me wish we had a snowy scene outside the breakfast room window.
I’ve been gone for a couple of weeks and am still roaming the garden blogosphere, trying to catch up with all the wonderful posts – loved your ruminations on ice and snow, and sure agree on the Bradford pears having a brittle quality as they age. So many trees get onto the recommended lists for awhile and then are widely planted- like this pear, the Arizona Ash and the Chinese Pistache. By the time the problems become evident and the recommendation is withdrawn, the poor homeowner has a fairly large tree that will cost money no matter what he/she does.
It was fun to read your Christmas customs, too – we also have an Advent wreath and after decades of real trees from a tree farm in Illinois, also chose an artificial one here – increasing allergies made that decision easy.
It’s been fun reading your posts – may 2008 be a good year for you and yours,
Annie at the Transplantable Rose
Mary Ann
loved it!

What a clever poem, the words fit perfectly with your crystal clear photo!
Lovely!

Happy New Year! I like the poem & the photo. I especially liked the line about the champagne. My philosphy is, however, drink it on New Year’s Eve & New Year’s Day. (And Valentine’s Day, and Groundhog Day, and the first day of Spring….)
