Symphony in Yellow
By Oscar Wilde
An omnibus across the bridge
Crawls like a yellow butterfly
And, here and there, a passer-by
Shows like a little restless midge.
Big barges full of yellow hay
Are moored against the shadowy wharf,
And, like a yellow silken scarf,
The thick fog hangs along the quay.
The yellow leaves begin to fade
And flutter from the Temple elms,
And at my feet the pale green Thames
Lies like a rod of rippled jade.
The Diva turns 15 on Monday. Her favorite color is yellow, and she is a symphony to me. For more musings, please visit Sweet Home and Garden Chicago.
Humorous Verse
At one point I thought I was the only person who was funny enough to write stuff like this.

Oh, today the first crocus showed itself and it is bright yellow with a spot of orange.
I cleaned out two shrub beds and under tree beds today and daffodils are peeking up everywhere.
Spring is coming so soon now and it is indeed exciting. Yellows will be here in every shade.
Woo-hoo! A crocus. I’m thrilled. It means that although we have gray days, spring will soon be here in all her glory.~~Dee

I love the daylily with the yarrow. I am going to copy you. Turks cap and lycoris look pretty together like that too, but they bloom together in the fall. I reposted the picture of the greenhouse monkey.

I went to your site and left you a couple of comments. A house full of boys. Wow. I only have one. You are welcome to copy me. It is really pretty when both are blooming. I’ve never grown Turk’s Cap. Maybe I’ll try.~~Dee

Lovely poem! I also love that you call your daughter the Diva. Aren’t all
15 year olds Divas? 😉
Thanks for stopping by my blog!

I’ve always liked Oscar Wilde, but only recently has yellow grown on me.
MMD, I like yellow in the landscape, but I don’t wear it.~~Dee
