If it rains for three days straight with no signs of stopping anytime soon, she goes up the road to Sealed With a Kiss for a knitting class. SWAK is one of the coolest yarn shops around, and Sherry is one of the most patient instructors. The fact that it is located in Guthrie, Oklahoma, is astounding. There is also a second location in Oklahoma City.
And, what color is RDR’s project?
Green, of course. By the end of this week, she hopes to have a full set of mitts (gloves sans fingers) to keep her little digits warm while she types, and the chill winds blow.
Afterward, she returned home, cooked a chicken, and made gluten free chicken noodle soup similar to this along with cornbread.
A girl’s gotta have something to do besides cleaning house especially when it’s the first day back to school for the Red Dirt kids.

How very pretty ! I wish we could get some of that rain. In the meantime, it’s been too hot for yarn crafts yet, but their time is coming!

A nice way to spend a rainy day. Also good to have other hobbies besides gardening… although gardening is certainly THE BEST hobby. Soup sounds good on a rainy day, too.

Dee, that sounds like a lovely way to spend a rainy day. My mom tried to teach me to knit several times. I seem to have a mental block to knitting! I can crochet, sew, and embroider, but never learned to knit. I’m green with envy!
I hope you’re enjoying your freedom with the Red Dirt Kids back in school.
lindas last blog post..August Garden Bloggers’ Bloom Day
Linda, don’t be. I take classes to learn the new stuff. At home, I’m best left to scarves. I also cross stitch. I’m not too fond of sewing, but I can sew the merit badges on ASW’s sash. 🙂 ~~Dee

It seems knitting is very popular, among gardeners as well as the general population. I like that shade of green.
Mine start back on the 2nd, I start subbing next week.

TC, it does seem that way doesn’t it? I guess we need something to do in the winter besides dream.~~Dee

What fun..I can knit a scarf and have! Not read to tackle the mittens! Enjoy your time with the kids in school! Wishing it would rain here! Highs in the 90s and so dry, sigh!

Good thing to do when it rains – you know I never learnt to knit so I always admire those that can.
Wonderful shade of green
Hope your rain stops soon.

My nephew must have started school in Enid this week.

Lookie what you are doing!!! Knitting on the dreary days or great days as I say. I love rain. Wish I had some. You can knit too? I’m impressed. I do quilting on my non gardening days. Also, it’s nice you got a minute to yourself as the red dirt kids go back to school. They’ll be so tired tonight but there will be lots of fun chatter too.
So nice to see you doing a bit of relaxing.

We’ve been having a pretty wet summer here too but 3 days of rain without end is a bit much. Good luck with the knitting project, wish we had a SWAK shop in this neck of the woods too.

If it rained here for three days I’d probably be out playing in it. there has been no measurable rain (maybe .4 inches) this month. We need it bad, please send it over!

Dee,
Good for you taking a knitting class. There must be something about this time of
year and knitting. I was just thinking I should start a new knitting project. I don’t
like knitting in the summer-too hot but I miss it.
Good luck with the mitts!!
