Oh Christmas Tree . . . part II

Our tree
Our tree

As a member of the Society, and at our president, Carol’s, informal request at the last virtual meeting, I’m pleased to share my garden-themed Christmas ornaments.  I also took the liberty of showing my poinsettia-themed wrapping paper (from Hallmark) and gift tags with flowers.  Picture how thrilled your fourteen-year-old son would be to have a camellia tag on his latest XP 360 game.  The things my children bear having me as their mother.

I’ve written about our tree before, and why I’m sorry it isn’t real.  Just can’t do it with the allergies.

I also included some of my birds.  I found twelve, new red ones this year at Horn’s Seed and Nursery, along with the decorations on our front door which I used in an Examiner post.  If you’re looking for that special something for your gardener, I also wrote about finding more garden-themed ornaments at Examiner today.

It’s nearly Christmas everyone.  Enjoy!

It’s a lovely tree. I should catalog my garden themed ornaments.

You should and let us see them. 😉 ~~Dee

Margaret Roach used to work for Martha Stewart and now has a blog of her own, I believe, is it Away To Garden? Or something like that. Funny her name got into your mental file system! 🙂

Ah, yes, I know Margaret well (virtually). Maybe her name was stuck in my head because I like her. 🙂 ~~Dee

Wow, that was great! Creating your own video like that. Listening to the background music and watching the ornaments fade in and out really put me in the holiday spirit. I especially loved the hibiscus and the golden pear ornaments. But I have to say my favorite was the “holly” berries. ;o) Merry Christmas!

Thanks Holly. Love your name this time of year. Here’s to Holly!~~Dee

Please forgive the abruptness of the last comment! Something snapped in my brain!!! As my friend Gail would say, details, schmetails! The ornaments are of course exquisite no matter what. :-0 So sorry, my dear friend!

Frances, you’re absolutely right. It is Margaret Furlong. I should have checked before I put the caption on it. I’d forgotten. Now, I wonder who is Margaret Roach that her name would stick in my brain?~~Dee

Hi Dee, too wonderful and I love the Oklahoma ornament! We have the whole collection of the white porcelain, but they are not by Margaret Roach, when last I checked. They are the work of Margaret Furlong, a brilliant artist.

Your tree is very impressive! Now, why doesn’t my family buy me garden tree ornaments? They give me everything else connected with gardening. I guess I have to drop some hints! Merry Christmas 🙂

Good idea to hint. Perhaps, with a wishlist?~~Dee

Honey, I sure do enjoy seeing your tree! Magnificent. Funny, but I find I am really changing, having a smaller tree and enjoying it, and even put on ribbon.
    Hugs,
    CurtissAnn

Ah, the kids wouldn’t like a small tree yet. Perhaps, when they are grown.~~Dee

No excuses necessary for your beautiful tree, Dee … whether food or decorating, all must settle into a festive feeling that works. Our garden club has a Christmas exchange, often shared are garden related gifts and ornaments … after ‘um teen’ years plus, I’ve accumulated enough to have a tree dedicated to the garden! I’ve often thought, if winter wasn’t so harsh, to designate a tree ‘outside’. When the children were small, they decorated a small tree they planted one Arbor Day for wildlife. Now, the tree is tall and the children are grown … but memories live on 🙂 Happy Holidays, dear gardening friend … it has been a gift knowing you!

Thank you Joey. I feel the same about you.~~Dee

I also have the glass watering can and trowel. Great ornaments and your tree is gorgeous.

Hi Lisa, a friend, Debbie Chester, gave me those years ago. I think there is one more piece to the set, but it didn’t photograph well. Merry almost Christmas.~~Dee

Your tree looks so charming and warm. I can imagine sitting under it on Christmas morning with a cup of hot cocoa. Your ornaments are wonderful. I especially like the copper watering can.
    .-= Mr. McGregor’s Daughter´s last blog ..Frigid Friday: A Holiday Story =-.

Thanks MMD. You know, that copper watering can looks much better in the photo than it does on the tree. Sometimes pictures bring out the best attributes in a person or thing.~~Dee

It seems odd that I don’t have any garden-themed ornaments. Not one. I deserve a lump of coal under my tree for that shortcoming.

    I loved your garden-themed ornaments!

Thanks TC. You should get some for your tree too. We all need them I think.~~Dee

Hey, I saw some like mine… the glass trowel and watering can, and the snowman holding the garland made of clay pots. Plus that glass poinsettia.

    It is almost Christmas!

Thanks for joining in for the Society meeting and sharing your garden themed ornaments!

Yes, Carol, I mean Madame President, I think we have similar tastes.~~Dee
