Rudbeckia ‘Goldsturm’

As you may have noticed the site has been up and down all week, a metaphor for my week in general.  ASW and I have had a stomach virus which is still lingering.  I’m dealing with site issues, and I’m trying to leave town for the Garden Writers Syposium in Portland where I can’t wait to show you everything I get to see.

This morning, as I was trying to pack, HH called and was stressed.  He’s always stressed when I leave town.  If he’s coming with me, it’s worse.  Our house is very long and neither set of phones can be used in each end.  Going from the kitchen to the bedroom, I lost the signal.

HH started saying “Hello, Hello?”

Hurrying, I turned to go where he could hear me.  I stepped upon a piece of luggage sitting on the floor.  This particular piece has rollers.  You know what happened next.  My feet slipped out from under me.  The phone flew out of my hand, and we both skittered across the wood floor.  I landed flat on my back staring at the ceiling.

“Are you there?  Hello?  Hello?”

Did I have a minor epiphany?  No, I was just grateful I didn’t break anything.

I guess I’m saying that no matter how much we all prepare, life still throws its own curve balls now and then.  Who knew all of this would happen the same week?  I sure didn’t.

The site isn’t pretty, and it’s up and down, but hang in there with me, and everything will eventually return to normal.  At least, that’s what I’m told, and I’m going to stick with that.  The alternatives aren’t as pleasant, and like Scarlett, I choose to think about them tomorrow.

Also, I’m speaking on a panel at the conference about successful blogging.  Does anyone else see the irony besides me?

Now, I’m off to take some Motrin and keep packing.

Hi Dee – glad only your ego was bruised. I sure hope once you get there everything will melt away and you’ll make a great presentation and be inspired and come back to share it all with us. Can’t wait to hear more. And as my 5-year old says to my DH, “Fly safe!”

Hi Dee, that conference sounds like loads of fun, or more fun than ending up on your back staring at the ceiling. You were lucky that time, do be careful! I can’t wait to hear your take on the conference. Billy Goodnick, Garden Wise Guy has been posting daily and it is almost like being there. We’ll be waiting for your take and what you learned and saw.

Glad you didn’t break anything. Your week has got to look UP after all that’s been going on.

Hope you have a great visit to Portland and we’ll look forward to your report.

Carolyn, I’ve always thought Scarlett had more going on that she was credit for having. It made me laugh once I realized I wasn’t hurt.~~Dee
