Garden Bloggers’ Bloom Day, October 2009

Bloom Day dawned with more rain and fog.  We are covered in a misty, gray morning for the second week in a row, and it’s starting to effect people’s moods.  My suggestion for this is a full spectrum light bulb found at most hardware stores.  Sit beneath it for thirty minutes each day to chase away the blues.  Also, be sure to incorporate some exercise into your day.  You will feel better, and you want to stay strong for spring.

Unlike the humans, the garden, excepting the two new agaves, is loving all the rain.  Even in October, it remains  beautiful, but now needs a closer view to appreciate its loveliness.

In an effort to speed my post, I only used common names in the movie.  I hope you don’t mind.  Let’s all thank Carol from May Dreams Gardens for dreaming up and hosting bloom day every month.  She created it after reading “We can have flowers nearly every month of the year,” written by Elizabeth Lawrence

Everything looks pretty good there! Our roses have not done well due to all the rain we’ve had in the past 4 weeks. But yours look great. At least we’ve got some beautiful sunshine today!

I loved your movie. The salvias and the roses are beautiful. I especially like the shot of the Mexican Bush Sage — gorgeous. And the sunflower too. It’s called Table Rock Sunflower?

So many Salvias…all lovely. I want to try them all! The roses too.
The slide show was a nice change (clever girl!) and the music brightened my evening.
Happy 2nd blogiversary, Dee! I’m so glad to be able to enjoy your lovely garden and virtual friendship through the wonder of blogging 🙂

Hi Kerri, I feel the same way. Thank you. Salvias are easy to grow with good drainage. Roses not so much. 🙂 ~~Dee

Dee, hello! It was a good video and the music was great. I am laughing at your falling down house comment…gardening on a slope makes either the trees or house look crooked in photos! My zinnia have had it with the rain and have packed up and gone south! Have a good weekend. Gail

Hurrah for salvias indeed. They carry us through two whole seasons and help the pollinators.~~Dee

That’s a great bunch of blooms in your garden. Inspiring to see all the roses.

It’s dreary here, too, and it does affect people’s moods. I want some sun!

Thanks for joining in for bloom day!
