Garden Bloggers’ Bloom Day~~January

Moss

What’s blooming in my backyard? Not much on this sunny day. Does moss count? Nah . . . . I did find a few things though.

Kale and a Pansy

Kale and a Purple Pansy.

Kale has its closeup.

Another shot of Magnolia grandiflora with a locust shell on the underside of the leaf. It’s legal because there is a bud in the picture.

That’s all I have. If you want to see what’s going on in other gardens across the country, please visit May Dreams Gardens and look in the comments.

I did see a bluebird scout yesterday. Spring is on its way!

Beautiful kale! Lol, I included arugula in my post. I think pretty vegetables should count… and maybe moss, too!

Melinda, you saw Carol’s comment . . . anything with color this time of year. Yea!~~Dee

    Hi Dee,

More than what’s blooming here. I only have my indoor plants to get me through.

    Indoor plants count too, Curtis.~~Dee

Nobody told me that moss counts! I have lots of moss.

I see once again that I don’t really understand the climates of the US. I thought Oklahoma was too dry for moss.

The purple pansies look great with the purple kale!
After I hit publish, I thought about it, and kale doesn’t bloom either, but hey, now that Carol is bending the rules for us, who knows what we may find. We had a really wet summer, so I’ve seen more moss this year than usual. It only grows in the shade.~~Dee

I thought it was cold in Oklahoma but I see you can grow the most beautiful tree in the world : Magnolia Grandiflora.

From one red dirt gal to another, Happy New Year !

It is cold here, kind of . . . . Zone 7 is about as far north as we can grow the Southern Magnolia. I’m thrilled to have one. Planted it many moons ago. Happy New Year to you too.~~Dee

This is my first visit to your blog, but it won’t be my last! I too count moss as a bloom, because it’s one of my favourite plants. Thanks for visiting and I’m adding your blog to my list of links, so that others will get to know you too.

Thank you, Jodi. I like your blog too. Just think I would never have found it if it weren’t for garden bloom day. Thanks for stopping by and thanks for adding me to your list. I can use all the help I can get.~~Dee

We can count anything in the wintertime, moss, buds, mirages, anything! I love the moss and wish I had a bit more shade to grow some more moss.

    Carol, May Dreams Gardens

Carol, I just thought it was really pretty. We don’t usually grow it that well here. Thanks for letting me count the kale too.~~Dee

Absolutely count the Magnolia bud! I’d consider the moss as an exotic plant here – maybe it grows in some gardens but not mine. Too alkaline, maybe? Yours looks beautiful, Dee.

    Happy Blooming Day from

    Annie at the Transplantable Rose

Annie, maybe it’s too hot for moss further south. I don’t know. My soil is pretty alkaline, so I don’t think that’s it. Thanks for coming by. Happy bloom day to you too.~~Dee
