A collage for Garden Bloggers’ Bloom Day hosted each month by Carol of May Dreams Garden. From left to right, top row: Hamamelis x intermedia ‘Arnold Promise,’ Helleborus ‘Blue Lady,’ Ilex x mondo ‘Little Rascal’ with a lichen covered rock, and a blue pansy; bottom row and middle: the first crocus growing in the lawn, Helloborus ‘Red Lady’, a sprout and an orange viola.
Just the beginning, a taste of what’s to come.
Kylee from Our Little Acre
Oh there’s yet another witch hazel in bloom! I’m still hoping for mine. (See latest blog post.) I planted ‘Red Lady’ hellebore last year, but so far no flower buds on any of my hellebores. Some I’ve had for at least three years.
Yes, Carol, those are hardy for your zone. So get some already! 😉
Dee, I’m not sure how I’ve been missing your blog for so long, but I’m here now! 🙂
Hi Kylee, I’m glad you’re here too.~~Dee

Yes, yes, that yellow crocus is very familiar. I have one or two in a small vase in the kitchen window that seems to be standing up. We never tire of this endless cycle of the reemergence of spring, do we, Dee?
Annie in Austin
Whether you’re giving us intimate portraits of individual flowers for GBBD, or standing at a distance to show us how the landscape works with your pretty house, reading your posts is a pleasure, Dee. What a beautiful place you’ve made!

Nola @ the Alamo
Aren’t those first tastes of spring the sweetest? Seems the colors are so vivid this time of year.
Susan Tomlinson
That’s a beautiful collage. It’s wonderful that you have so many things already blooming! I’ve seen nary a bud down here…

I love them all, especially the witch hazel. I was just thinking; the one spring bulb I never hear talk about is crown frittileria. Perhaps they are out of fashion.
Karen - An Artists Garden
Lovely Hellebores Dee – they are on of my passions – blue lady looks particularly interesting.

Lovely, Dee:) I really like the Red Lady hellebore; I need more of those. I have just one plant in my garden. Your collage is lovely! I did a collage too. It’s fun on Picasa, isn’t? And pretty easy, too.
Have a wonderful day:)
Marnie
Great collage. All the photos of hellebores have inspired me to try some next season. Anything that blooms really early is always most welcome.

Hi Dee, everything is coming along nicely! Love those two new hellebores. I got those last year and the buds (one on each plant) are looking good. Spring will be at both of our gardens soon, I hope! 🙂

Beautiful February blooms Dee! I have definitely been bitten by the hellebore bug.
Kathy from Cold Climate Gardening
I have crocuses in March, but usually no pansies until early May. It’s wonderful to see spring start at your place.

Jean
I just googled your little holly (Little Rascal). What kind of conditions are you growing it in. It looks like a really nice low grower. Next month’s GBBD will be really different for all us bloggers as I expect to see lots of blooms!
Jean´s last blog post..GB Bloom Day, Feb 2009
Hi Jean,
I have three growing in partial sun and one grows in morning sun. I think they can take full sun though. I love them. They stay pretty all winter here, and in the spring, they will have red growth. I saw some growing at my church in a very large container with another larger shrub. They look great in that application too.~~Dee

It looks like spring in your garden. How wonderful!
It looks like spring, but brrr, it’s misleading. It’s cold this morning.~~Dee

And a lovely taste it is, Dee. The little pansy faces are so pretty, and how nice to have your first bright crocus! I’m wishing for a Witch Hazel and more hellebores. Just hoping my one little plant survives the winter. I love the colors of yours.

Hi Kerri,
Thanks. I couldn’t believe it when I saw the little crocus. I also used the photo on Examiner.com because I thought it was so nice.~~Dee
Monica
Or for us in Michigan, a pre-preview (which is kind of like getting pre-engaged!). Which is to say, I have to wait another 4-6 weeks for our preview of spring! And am I the only one who thinks lichen-covered rocks are adorable?! 🙂
Monica´s last blog post..Today I Leapt
Yes, Monica, you have a long ways before your have any blooms. I’m sorry. You are not the only one who believes lichen covered rocks are adorable. I love them which is why I’m glad I have some more now. 🙂 ~~Dee

Hey Dee,
I’m glad I found your GBBD, the one listed at Carols doesn’t take us here. I just went to you through my blog roll. Glad I did. I like the way these photos are presented.
Thanks for letting me know, Helen. Mr. Linky has his issues.~~Dee

Glad you still have pretty flowers after that storm last week. Hang in there and spring should be here soon. Of course that might bring more tornadoes your way…

Collages seem to be the rage this GBBD. I did the same thing, but yours is much prettier.
Deb, I think yours is as pretty as mine. I liked the large photo in yours. Collages are good way to get everything you want in there.~~Dee
