A slender mud-dauber wasp moved into the garden this summer.
He lives in a little teapot, the bird house 3B.
At first, he was a nice neighbor. We got along swimmingly.
Until he had children and became quite cross you see.
I don’t like the wasp in 3B.

I had the same phenom this spring. I have never noticed them getting into birdhouses before. Maybe all the rain chased them from their normal territories. They chased out a viable nest of House Wrens this year. Grrrr This did not make me happy. I love your poem too.

The nicest rhyme/poem about wasps I’ve ever read! xxgail

Those wasps can be vicious.
This I know!
One stung me as I innocently walked by.
I took care of him and his whole family…

I’m here after reading Gail’s story about visiting your garden. What a lovely place you have and the design is fantastic!

Compared to the wasps we had when I lived in Alabama, the ones here in Illinois are downright friendly. Don’t know why those southern wasps are so mean tempered:) Can’t let him stay there in 3B if it’s close to a walkway.

Gardener on Sherlock Street
I had to evict a wasp just last night trying to sit up house in the vent that feeds our unused fireplace. I knocked out his nest. Hope he moves!
