I also like to use bronze fennel and Italian parsley. They look so pretty in the garden and the caterpillars eat them up! I love to watch them.

Ahh just beautiful.
One year I bought numerous dill seedlings. The guy at the garden shop said he would pick off the caterpillars for me. I told him that was the only reason I was buying them in the first place.
The children and I raised them in the house and let them go when they emerged as butterflies…always magical.
happy day!

That’s the very best reason! gail

We love the swallowtails. They have cleared out foliage on our bronze fennel and all of our parsley. I love watching the transformation of these creatures.

Those hungry little guys have eaten that plant down to nothing. I planted fennel which has never attracted caterpillars. I think I will pick up some dill and hope for better luck.

This is my reason, too, Dee! Looks like a great year for swallowtails at your house.

Oh, what a beautiful sight! We have a patch of common dillweed growing on the edge of our forest, mixed in with some wild pink roses, one of many discoveries hereabouts that makes me think someone had a garden here previously.

That’s exactly why I grow it too!!!
I still find it fun to poke the caterpillers and make them stick out their antennes and the butterflies are beautiful!

This looks like a fun party.
