Grateful

Worship as we choose
Worshiping God as we choose

This weekend is an opportunity for me to remember that for which I am grateful.  We ate with HH’s enormous family yesterday, and my small one comes over this Sunday.  I’ll get to have dressing then because I’m preparing much of the meal, and it will be gluten and casein free.

Following are my top ten reasons for being grateful for this moment in time.

10.  I live in a country where we are still free to worship God as we see Him.  This is a freedom much of the world does not enjoy.

9.  That, although much is made about the food at Thanksgiving, it is an opportunity to break bread and spend time with our friends and families.

8.  That a five-year-old child, my nephew, came to visit and made me remember what it’s like to love fast cars (Hot Wheels), Batman, a soft, green blanket named Silky and Nilla wafers.

In addition to laying mulch & cleaning, let's remember to stop and swing.

7.  That the Blue Jays join the Cardinals in swoops, fits and starts, celebrating the abundance of bird seed in our feeders.

6.  Having a husband who so “gets” me that he lets me keep expanding the gardens.  That he sees the beauty in them too.

5.  Last night’s rain.

4.  Blue skies today.

3.  Not having to go out in the crowds.

2.  The companionship of a good book and hot tea and EnviroKidz Organic Gluten-Free Animal Cookies, Vanilla, 9-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 12).  They aren’t Barnum’s, but they’re good.

1.  My family.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

  1. Hi Dee, Happy week-after-Thanksgiving. I am still feeling warm and fuzzy from my holiday of thanks and reading your post reminds me why. We worry so much about what we DON’T have these days. But you remind us of the priceless possessions. All for the better. Fondly, with love, Deb

Happy week after to you too. I know, with the economy, it is very scary out here and there, but our faith sustains us. XOXO~~Dee

  2. You dear are one of those people on my list: People I’m grateful for. People I’m richer for knowing.

Thank you, David. I feel the same about you.~~Dee

  3. Family is my favorite part. The ones I see often, and ones just on holidays. The nice, boring, hanging out together. I love it!!! I like Thanksgiving best, because there is no ‘gift’ pressure. Sad huh? My list would be very similar to yours. Happy Holidays to you and yours!

Beautifully said, my mellow Carla. No, Thanksgiving is all about the gift we’ve already received, although that’s what Christmas should be about too, now that I think about it.~~Dee

  4. Dee, that is a great list. Many of mine are there too.

  5. Dee,

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I really enjoyed your top 10 list. : D
While I try to remind myself each day of the things for which I am grateful, the list has grown considerably this year. It’s wonderful to have a day to celebrate our gratitude with family.
    Thanks for sharing.

I’m even thankful for my in-laws. Without them I would never have met my better half.

  9. What a wonderful list of things to be grateful for Dee. It’s good sometimes to stop and think specifically about the good things in our lives. Even the smallest things can be such a blessing.

I want to let you know that I’m having a Christmas giveaway on my blog this week – a little tree ornament I made. I would love it if you’re able to pop by and enter my contest 🙂

  10. Thanks for leaving such a nice comment on my blog Dee. 🙂
I was going to write a similar Thankful post earlier in the week until we all came down with a horrible flu bug. Now I am VERY thankful that we are all feeling much better. 🙂

  11. Isn’t it wonderful that we have Thanksgiving, so we can slow down and remember why we are so blessed!
Oh, dear, I see you got rain last night. We are headed to Oklahoma Sunday, I HOPE it’s not cold and rainy! Hubby’s family is near “the City”. From Nov through Feb I am always afraid I’ll get caught in a snowstorm up there!
