Think we’ll have a white Christmas?

In Oklahoma, the weather outside is truly frightful.  As I wrote before, we rarely have a white Christmas, but the blizzard of 2009 sure makes up for it.  This video was just the beginning early this afternoon.  It’s still snowing, and the snow is drifting so much that people are stranded everywhere in the state.

Due to inclement weather, our family Christmas Eve party is canceled for this evening, and HH is in Oklahoma City preparing to fulfill his snow contract.  He and the rest of our company will work all night clearing the roads in downtown Oklahoma City.  So, if you’re out and about (LOL), honk and wave as you drive by him.

I’m going to try to get to mass tomorrow.  I live out in the country where the roads aren’t plowed or sanded, so that’s a definite maybe.  We haven’t missed Christmas mass ever. If HH were going to be here, it might be more certain, but I’ll make that call in the morning.

With expected snowfall somewhere between six and twelve inches, we are living in a wintry wonderland.

Merry Christmas Eve everyone!  Stay safe and warm.

Hope you were able to make it to Mass, Dee. I heard yesterday that OK got 14″. Brrrrr.

Dee, I hope you ended up having a Merry and Holy Christmas 🙂 Drifting snow can be quite a problem, while your wintry video actually looks lovely ( only the sound effects give away the reality of the blustering weather).

I bet the wildlife down your way is wondering what in the world happened. I feel so badly for you. Looks like when we lived in North Dakota. Merry Christmas and hopefully you’ll dig out soon.

That looks nasty! Somehow, I had thought being housebound for Christmas was a phenomenon that was limited to the Northern States. Sorry about the weather woes. Merry Christmas, anyway.

    Dee,

Your video reminds me of thoughts swirling in my mind as I watched a similar view outside my own window last night — “…And there goes tomorrow’s Christmas Brunch gathering.”

It was a different Christmas Eve not go to church and sing Silent Night with a sanctuary full of lit candles. Instead, I was living in a Silent Night. And I lit my own candle. It was worship, pure and simple.

A few hours ago, a man on heavy road equipment was pushing snow off the road. Perhaps it was your husband’s company at work. If so, Walker Avenue residents are ever thankful.

    Merry Christmas Dee.

Wow, that’s quite a snow blizzard you have up there Dee. I know it’s very important for you to go to mass tomorrow so I hope you will be able to do so.

Here all the snow has turned into a filthy slush courtesy of all the rain we’ve had since last night. A pity, but it won’t spoil my Christmas.

Merry Christmas Dee, to you and yours.

I have heard that we received 14 inches at the airport. We celebrated Christmas Wednesday night thinking this might happen. I never dreamed it would be this bad. Take blankets tomorrow if you decide to venture out. Merry Christmas Dee.

No snow here, so I think we might take a walk and imagine what it must be like. Merry Christmas!

That is quite a snowy, wintry, windy scene on Christmas Eve. I loved the wind chimes in the background. I know that if there is anyway possible, you’ll be in church tomorrow morning. Have a wonderful Christmas, whenever you celebrate it!

I need some of that snow here. We got a snowman kit as a gift tonight. All we have is wind and some cold coming into the area. If you get out tomorrow be safe. We don’t want any tragic accidents reported on the holiday. Just stay at home and say your prayers. Merry Christmas.

I hope you have a safe and merry Christmas. That’s a lot of snow that you are expecting. Sounds like you are not too thrilled to be having a white Christmas.

“the weather outside is truly frightful”

But the fire inside is so delightful… la, la, la,… Okay, I won’t go there!

The lovely wind chime music with the gusting winds create some real narrative tension for your holiday.
